From Ashes to Glory:

For the ten years that I have known Barbara, I have seen her as a much focused young woman.   I have observed her as a loving daughter caring for her ailing mother, as an astute minister in our home church, and a very able teacher in her seminars “Hidden Jewels International”.

She has a unique way of teaching.  Her comparisons of situations dealing with women are clearly transferred from scripture to “real life”, but in a way that commands your undivided attention.

In From Ashes to Glory, I am mesmerized by how Barbara takes a topic as serious as rape, and explains how women are left feeling after such a devastating experience.  She dissects and discusses the topic from several aspects, reaching the secular world through her hands-on experience with rape victims as a nurse for many years, and shaking the spiritual world both with her unique explanation of the very interesting story of Tamar, and by “putting us in remembrance” of the duties God gave us to perform.

One of the many scriptures (and there are many) which came to my mind while reading was 1 Thessalonians 5: 14, which exhorts us to rescue and restore hurting people.  This means doing whatever it takes for however long it takes until that person is whole again.

This book challenges the mature saints to be about our Father’s business, while it also serves in teaching the novice to be a doer and not a hearer only.  With this book Barbara has again succeeded in commanding your undivided attention.  Read and be both informed and blessed.

Sincerely,
Delores “Mom” Winans
